Jordan Bruce Hot damn this album is awesome. I've grown up listening to Fraser Fifield. From Honest Water when I was a teenager to this album now in my early 40's. With each album, I get a fresh vision into the tradition and a bit more insight into his own virtuosity. This album is another revelation of what I didn't realize I needed. Its gonna be on repeat for a bit... thank you Fraser! Favorite track: One Great Circle.

Fraser Fifield continues his series of recordings in trio settings featuring his low whistle with One Great Circle, the tenth album in this versatile musician’s prolific career.

Special guests are the internationally acclaimed string duo, fiddler Chris Stout and harpist Catriona McKay!

These 9 tracks are inspired by interviews with the Aberdeen-born storyteller, ballad singer, author, piper and member of a prominent traveller family, Stanley Robertson, whose supernatural accounts Fraser heard on www.tobarandualchais.co.uk while fulfilling the role of Traditional Artist in Residence for the Celtic and Scottish studies department of the University of Edinburgh.

The trio of Chris, Catriona and Fraser is really something of a reunion given the three first met, forming friendships, during their music-student days in mid-1990's Glasgow. The 9 tracks of One Great Circle were recorded as live over one productive day in the same city with engineer Keir Long almost 30 years later, in November 2023.
